RASTIC was a joint project with British Rail, and Permaquip.
The project was to make a machine that could bend rail joints straight to within +/- 0.1 mm.
Fisher Consultants re-designed the electronics for the vehicle started by another supplier and successfully achieved the aim of the project.

Electronic Systems for the Rail Industry
Fisher Consultants have designed and built many systems for British Rail, its successors and for track maintenance vehicles. Some of these projects are shown below.

We currently program and manufacture logic controllers for Road-Rail track maintenance vehicles which have inputs from both digital sensors and analogue sensors. The system has a head-up display to show the vehicle operator the state of sensors for the function he requires to happen. The system is based on logic controllers with 24 digital inputs and 8 analogue inputs, with 24 digital inputs, 8 of which can be programmed to provide analogue control. The system can be configured with a display and one two or three controllers connected via a high speed data link. Future upgrades will include a tachograph and event recorder functions.
